An argument for the simulation?

If we accept that AGI constitutes the most crucial moment in human history, we must then ask ourselves: What are the chances that we happen to be alive during this singular moment in 300,000 years of human existence, preceded by 3.7 billion years of evolutionary life on Earth?

For a small group of AI enthusiasts, the rare chance that we find ourselves at the brink of creating AGI, (or have already), constitutes a key argument to strengthen the idea that we might actually be living in a simulation.

If our ancestors had created a digital simulation, in which we are all captive participants, of a civilization within a planet like our own, they would most likely have wanted to recreate precisely the moment of human history that we find ourselves in today. Maybe something went wrong in the future. Maybe AGI got out of our hands, and we lost control.

Our ancestors could be interested in recreating again and again this key period in history to try and understand why things went wrong and how they could have been handled differently.

Maybe it is up to us to act and change the future. Maybe we are all just video game NPCs (Non-Player Characters), and the future of this adventure is all solely up to you?
