Cyborgs?
The wealthiest segment of the population will be the first to access the ability to modify their DNA. Gene editing will be able to halt or reverse aging, eradicating hereditary diseases and enhance physical and cognitive abilities, allowing humans to live for centuries.
Most will initially transition discreetly, hiding their augmented DNA. Others will make sure their new body parts are decorated with loud brand logos flaunting their luxury status. This cocktail of human biological enhancements summed to neural network implants will give rise to a new segment of the population classified as cyborgs.
Like demigods of Greek mythology, these individuals will transcend mere mortal qualities. While part of the population will bow down to these superior elites, other purists will dismiss them as freaks.
Social differentiations between regular humans and cyborgs will only exacerbate inequalities as access to biotech advancements becomes a defining measure of status between the haves and have-nots. Because cyborgs might prove to be better humans than us humans.
