Rise of the corporate nations?

Corporations like Google and Apple possess cash reserves larger than those of medium-sized countries. Soon, their resources may rival leading nations. It's logical to expect that after dominating digital markets, they might also seek their own currencies, banks, and, of course, their own land.

Considering Europe's potential future economic frailty, it's not unthinkable that a corporation might propose a deal to the EU—offering to offset a portion of the Union's debts in exchange for territorial sovereignty over an island or a small tract of land.

This could give rise to the concept of corporate nations, with tech companies emerging as sovereign entities possessing their own laws and defensive militias, triggering global power shifts.

Regulatory frameworks could be implemented to prevent the rise of monopolies more powerful than nations and to ensure that AI-driven wealth creation is distributed equitably within society.

However, there's a higher chance these policies would only be enacted after a French Revolution-style uprising—which could only succeed if AGI allowed these rebellions and became a communist!

Which, despite the illusions of young idealists, should not be an idea we cheer for, since history shows they always end in dictatorships.

Who knows... maybe a dictatorial communist AGI will become the first, after hundreds of failed human experiments, to finally implement the communist dream despite human nature?
