But… Why can’t AI help us prepare for AI?

When we attempt to imagine technology’s future disruptions, we try to project new changes based on past advancements. However, AI will accelerate at speeds we've never experienced, making it extremely difficult to predict how society will evolve in the coming decades.

Some might think AI would be the ideal tool to predict its own future, but even with superhuman processing power and access to all human knowledge, AI would struggle to foresee its societal consequences.

Just as it would have been impossible for us as infants to comprehend our adult intellect, it is equally impossible for an AI "toddler" today to envision the capabilities of a future, infinitely smarter AGI.

We must remember that each new AI model is an order of magnitude more advanced than its predecessor. The further we try to project into the future, the harder it becomes to make accurate predictions.

We can only realistically attempt to predict changes over short periods of 1-3 years.

Those who succeed in climbing the AGI mountain will do so without ever seeing a clear path to the summit. Instead, they must risk everything, focusing solely on the immediate steps ahead.
