Critical thinking / The tower of Babel
True insight arises from active observation, which helps us stay aware and conscious. If we stop making our own observations, and instead rely on AI to provide us with automated reflexions, we risk replacing our own thoughts and simply accepting AI’s suggestions, taking them for granted as our own beliefs.
Imagine a world where everyone depends on AI to turn their clumsy prompts into perfectly worded messages and emails. These messages are then received and summarized by another AI for the recipient, who mumbles a few words for AI to craft a formal response.
Chances are, both parties use the same AI service that translates basic mumblings into witty, brilliant messages. It's the verbal equivalent of using a face filter—not to present an AI-beautified image, but an AI-smarter version of ourselves.
If AI does all the heavy lifting, the simple practice of observing, thinking, and writing down our ideas risks becoming a lost art.
